Price Boat Company

We began in 1981 as a wooden boat repair shop. Classic old 'woodies' around Torch Lake Michigan, as well as nearby communities, marinas and summer camps challenged us to reverse damage from storms, misuse and age. Both sail and power boats- even a few fiberglass hulls were on our agenda.

Structural repairs such as perforated or rotted hull sections, plus the careful refinishing of

Varnished Mahogany became the focus of our work.

The main objective was to return wooden, and some fiberglass, boats to a useful life. Most were never showboats, but rather treasured family members. On occasion we used an old boat that was beyond repair as a model for an entirely new replacement.

Over time our inspiration changed toward building a boat capable of long distance, safe, economical travel on fresh or salt water.

Well known northwest designer George Buehler produced the Diesel Duck in 1996, which was the ideal design to fulfill our dream. We bought his plans for the 38’ model and built the hull according to them. But we designed and built our own concept for a beautiful custom interior. The theme was to capture the feeling of a country farm house living room. But the boat must have all the independence of a hi-tech yacht. Bright varnish finishes everywhere. A Ponderosa pine floor with dark mahogany plugs over every screw. A cherry steering console with a traditional mahogany ships wheel. Carpeted stair to the forward main cabin and also aft to the stateroom and bath.

The pictures tell what words cannot.

TIMBERSKEEP is the name given to the 38’ Diesel Duck. It’s an English expression meaning a wooden castle.
